THREE STATES IN TEN DAYS: CONNECTICUT, RHODE ISLAND, AND MASSACHUSETTS

From New York we drove up to Connecticut, Rhode Island, and then to our last destination, Boston. An aunt of mine from Rhode Island picked us up in New York because we were scheduled to stay at her house for a week. She was really thoughtful for including Connecticut in our itinerary on the way to her house in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

Our visit to Connecticut was right in time for the 2015 sail festival in New London. It was definitely a great experience, the festival was filled with booths of food, souvenirs, and etc. The fireworks display with a live band performance at the latter part of the event was the cherry on top of the amazing festival.

Newport was beautiful! We visited the city during its Kite Festival celebration. It was my first time to experience a Kite Festival so I was really surprised to see kites that are as big as a sail boat. The atmosphere was great, everyone had their tents, their picnic mats out, and packed up food! The smell of the sea was also lingering in my nose the whole time. Being in the area felt like being part of a scene in Gossip Girl when they were all in the Hamptons.

Staying in Boston made me want to live there, surprisingly yes, over New York. The city of Boston kinda gives you a safer feel. It’s a great mix of young adults and professionals. We also spent fourth of July in Boston. We were too jetlag though to go out and party so we just stayed in at my aunt’s house and watched all the fireworks display on TV. Boston reminded me so much of Sydney too! I liked how the people were relaxed and they were all extremely friendly too.
